The wine is a more savoury, delicate style than the bold version that is renown in the Heathcote region. The wine is a deep dense crimson in colour exhibiting white pepper, spice, raspberry and mulberry fruit characters. Rich, full bodied and dry with red fruit flavours this wine has a long rounded palate and generous soft tannins. Drinking very well right now, or cellar until 2014.
Comments
Love the fruit profile of this wine. It has a bit of class about it. It is blueberried, minerally, soft, earthen, loaded with ultra fine tannin and soft in the mouth. There is some eucalypt in there too, but it is at a minor level. I thought it was a bit abbreviated on the finish at first, but it spread out with time in the glass. Very nice wine. Drink 2008 – 2014. 89 Points.

This southern Heathcote winery's reds are good...particularly ...and minty blackcurranty cabernet merlot.

Harvest
Harvesting was completed in the middle of May following a long growing season. It was hand picked in 2 parcels over a 3 week period to provide added fruit complexity.
Winemaking
The grapes were fermented in open tank fermenters, after which they were pressed in a basket press. This process provides for a gentle extraction of colour and soft tannins. The wine was then left to age in a mixture of French and American oak barriques for 12 months, during which time it underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was racked prior to bottling. Minimal filtration was used.
